    Howard Dueck, Open Schools Director, visits South Africa for the board meeting. The pandemic redefines how we are able to proceed with projects.

    The new Open Schools newsletter is sent to supporters and partners. Work begins on the Tutor Handbook.

    Angie Pape assumes the role of Director of Open Schools Worldwide.

    Kilometers for Kids raises funds and awareness for Open Schools across the globe.

    Open Schools Brazil is established. Translation of the curriculum into Portuguese begins.

  • August 2020

    Awana South Africa trained the Open Schools team to assist tutors in Bible teaching. Workshop for staff, equipping them to train new partners and tutors online.

    Foundations for Farming trained Open Schools staff to work with project facilitators in the rest of Africa. Projects in South Africa start reopening. Training 18 CDRE (part of Community Ministries in Muldersdrift, South Africa) tutors.

  • October 2020

    First online training with Glimmer for Street Kids tutors held successfully for Korah 2, Ethiopia, to start presenting lessons to 21 new children. Projects in Malawi start reopening. 3,000 workbooks printed in Malawi for 1,500 children.

    5-day training for Orange Farm, Zandspruit, and Thoriso tutors in South Africa. Task team established to create supplementary material for literacy and numeracy.

  • December 2020

    Children’s Bibles donated for 19 children at El Shammah, South Africa. Southern African schools close for the holidays. We wish you a happy Christmas and a blessed New Year!
